Batman vs Superman: 10 Casting Choices They Must Make

8. Joseph Gordon-Levitt Is Nightwing

joseph gordon levitt tdkr When The Dark Knight Rises concluded, my instant thinking was that there was only one possible route for Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character to go - John Blake would surely take up the cape and cowl for himself, essentially becoming Batman 2.0, while others took a more literal interpretation of those final moments, that he would become Robin, or perhaps Nightwing. While I originally rubbished such suggestions, with the confirmation last week that Gordon-Levitt will not be returning to the Batman role, it actually makes a lot more sense that he would transition into one of these supporting roles, even if it's probably unlikely that we'll see Gordon-Levitt as either character. Though not a necessary addition to the cast given that the film is already going to struggle to juggle just Batman and Superman, even just a slight nod to the John Blake character and what he's up to next would provide some nice "closure" to his character, even if he never appears again.
