Batman vs Superman: 10 Reasons Jesse Eisenberg As Lex Luthor Is All Wrong

6. Eisenberg Has Big Shoes To Fill - Kevin Spacey

A number of actors have played Lex Luthor since he first debuted in Action Comics #23, each to varying degrees of success. One of the more popular interpretations in recent years was Kevin Spacey's take on the role for Superman Returns, Bryan Singer's reboot from 2006. Sure, many fans thought the film sucked beyond all reason, but Spacey was singled out as a highlight of the movie for his more sinister interpretation that stayed true to the comics.

Spacey has always been highly respected, particularly since he won an Academy Award back in 1999 for American Beauty and his sinister onscreen presence is almost unparalleled in cinema today. Will Eisenberg manage to make the character his own so soon after Spacey nailed the role? This fan is doubtful.
