8. Which Superman Villain(s) Will Be Featured?

Lex Luthor is currently the only named villain in the piece, but fans have called for the inclusion of numerous famous antagonists, including Metallo, Brainiac, Mongul, and even Bizarro. All, of course should be taken with a pinch of salt. More important than who the additional villain will be is how they will build the story around them. Despite Superman being a technically unrealistic character, Snyder and Goyer have been very vocal about trying to make the unreal story elements play as if it were part of our reality. Since Goyer described Man Of Steel as a first contact movie, the prism through which we view this Universe is vastly different than it once was. Introducing a villain like any of those mentioned above is certainly not impossible, but their purpose for being a part of the story will hinge on the fact that their origin must fit into the film-makers vision of plausible unreality. A lot of who that additional villain will be also rests on non-character elements like whether or not kryptonite will play a role and so on. So much can be done in many different ways and because there's still so much we don't know it's hard to draw any conclusions from the pieces we've been given. But one thing's for certain, audiences are eagerly anticipating seeing a Superman villain on the big screen who's never been there before. Besides Lex Luthor, that's most of them.
