Batman Vs Superman: 7 Iconic Villain Roles That Prove Irons Is Miscast As Alfred
7. Scar (The Lion King)
As Disney villains go, perhaps none have aged as well as Scar. Brother of the King of the Pridelands in Mustafa (James Earl Jones), Scar makes an unholy alliance with the hyenas in order to stage a devastatingly clever coup in order to murder Mustafa as well as send his son into exile (though not killing him as he hoped). Irons brings Scar's villainy to life beautifully, showing him to be devious and clever. Furthermore, the actor also manages to deliver with a dry wit some of the most humorous lines ever to come out of a Disney villian's mouth, with great moments in particular with Rowan Atkinson's Zazu. Finally, Irons shows Scar's depth and flaws by making him more than just a evil tyrant by his forever hatred, jealousy and insecurity of his older brother - a fact which is made manifest when he is king by the fact that the name Mustafa is not allowed to be even uttered during Scar's reign. There is no doubt that Scar is a role that allows Irons to show how good he is at playing scheming, devious characters that get to the top through slight of hand and trickery rather than brute strength. It would be doubtful that Alfred would allow him such room to move.
