Easily the most controversial choice for a character cameo in Batman vs. Superman would be the appearance of Batman's greatest nemesis, The Joker. Heath Ledger gave a monumental, Oscar-winning performance as the character in 2008, and ever since, the character has been deemed untouchable by many comic book fans, while Christopher Nolan refused to recast the character for a returning role in The Dark Knight Rises. Given that Nolan will likely still be involved with this movie despite his role seemingly being downplayed so far, it's not particularly likely that The Joker will appear, even if a tease of his return would certainly strike up fervent discussion and interest in a future film. The Cameo: Casting would be a major issue given how even the best actor would struggle under the pressure to compete with Ledger, but the role itself could easily be cloaked in shadows for now, giving Snyder and co. several years to decide upon who to cast for any future movie. What about a shot of The Joker escaping into the streets of Gotham, or even just some signature Joker graffiti which teases his return? It'd be a difficult one to get right, and no matter how awesome it is, it's going to upset some people, so it needs to be thought about very carefully.
