Batman Vs. Superman Movie: 10 Villains That Would Pay Subtle Tribute To Nolan's Trilogy

3. Black Mask

If anyone was going to become a new crime lord in a new kind of Gotham, Roman Sionis would do just nicely. He is a perfect foil to Bruce Wayne, because just like Bruce, Roman was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Except that in his case his parents cared more about the spoon than the child. Literally dropped on his head as a baby, scarred by a rabid racoon and forced into a friendship with a young Bruce, Roman Sionis' hatred for the "masks" people wore in society, and his deep rooted jealousy of Bruce Wayne both as children and as corporate competitors, would end up manifesting itself into the villainous Black Mask. It will not surprise you to hear that the Black Mask ended up in Arkham Asylum. He was freed at one point by Ra's Al Ghul which would be the nod in Nolan's general direction. But there's something even more intriguing in Black Mask's cultural use that could directly tie him in with Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman. In the classic animated show The Batman, Black Mask was actually employed by Lex Luthor to take down the Man of Steel himself and he devises a plan to lure Superman into a trap by kidnapping Lois Lane. Naturally, that doesn't end so well for him. A mention of Roman's company Janus Cosmetics or his own criminal ring The False Face Society would be enough to put a smile on my face but if he can be directly tied to getting freed by Ra's Al Ghul or Bane, Snyder would be giving a subtle geek wink at The Dark Knight trilogy.
