Batman vs Superman Movie - 4 Reasons The Delay Is A Good Thing

3. A Better Chance of Box Office Success

Batsvssupes2 With less tentpole films to compete with, BVS will have a greater chance at box office success. Sure, it's not the most important thing for the film, but it's certainly a plus for the studio, who undoubtedly want to make the most money possible. And for fans this is good because with less "must see" films released in close proximity, it will be easier to find the time (and money) to go to the movies. Which is why we get excited for these things in the first place, right? Right off the bat the film will no longer have to compete with Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man, which arrives in theaters on July 31, just two weeks after the original BVS date. Now, that's not to say that BVS will have no competition at the box office. An untitled Marvel Studios film has already been sitting comfortably in that May 6 release date for about a year, though chances are Marvel will move that film either a few weeks ahead into April, or sometime in June or July. It just doesn't make sense, financially, for Marvel to keep that date and attempt to go head to head with the world's two biggest superheroes. A couple weeks after BVS, Disney will be releasing their Alice in Wonderland sequel the same day that 20th Century Fox releases X-Men: Apocalypse, and then at the beginning of June The Amazing Spider-Man 3 hits cinemas. So, BVS will definitely have some competition, but getting a jump start on the summer is the smartest move.
