Batwing Accident On Set Of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
Second production crash on the set of Batman 3 nearly destroyed the batwing! Plus... loads of videos online from the last few days of filming.
After Matt revealed the first photos of the new Batwing earlier this week, more pictures, this time of the machine in action have surfaced online. According to website Eyeprime.net, the Batwing was involved in an on-set accident yesterday in Pittsburgh where filming of The Dark Knight Rises is currently well underway. During the filming of a large action sequence on the city streets the Batwing apparently went off course and hit a streetlamp and almost destroyed the right side of Batmans latest toy. After taking almost an hour to rebuild the Batwing was back on set soon after and there were no reports of any injuries. The accident is the second this week after Anne Hathawaysstunt double crashed the Batpod into expensive IMAX camera equipment. The camera was totalled but again luckily nobody was seriously hurt. In these excellent photographs, Batman can clearly be seen at the stick of the new airborne vehicle ending speculation that the Batwing would be introduced for the new movie. 
While there will inevitably be some computer tweaking to the scene in post production, not least to remove the huge rig underneath the vehicle, its refreshing to see and to director Christopher Nolans credit that the Batwing is being filmed physically and not being added in using CGI after the action has been completed. I also think the Batwing looks fantastic and is certainly in keeping with the style of the Tumbler and Batpod.
