Beauty And The Beast: 21 Easter Eggs & References You Must See

1. The Beard

Beauty And The Beast
Disney

At the end of the film, after Beast is freed of the curse and turns back into his human form, Belle asks the Prince whether he could grow a beard, presumably because she misses his more animal side.

It's actually a line that was cut from the animated version, where it was ad-libbed Paige O'Hara, as she revealed to Insider:

"I love Glen Keane's Beast, that's why I ad-libbed 'Do you think you can grow a beard? It almost made it in the movie. But Glen's very proud of his prince and I understand why."

It's not the only missed opportunity from the cartoon that made its way in - as well as the music box, the casting of Sir Ian McKellen as Cogsworth rights a career wrong for him as he turned down the same role in the 1991 animated version.
