Beauty And The Best Remake: 6 Iconic Elements They Left Out
2. The Creepy Insane Asylum Guy
People who work in the mental health field tend to get a bad rap in movies and television. The Doctors at these institutions are often portrayed as mad scientists, and orderlies are often painted as sadistic. So it’s probably for the best that this guy was left out in this modern adaptation…
That being said, this bit-part villain was sorely missed. Gaston’s plan to get Maurice locked away in the local insane asylum (Why does this poor provincial town have an insane asylum?!) is still very much an important part of the live-action movie. But one big piece of the puzzle that was missing was the creepy old warden who LOVES IT.
He looks like he's been dead for years, and Gaston had to dig him out of a muddy grave and reanimate him to get his help. The guy practically froths at the mouth when Gaston tells him his evil plan.
Picture Patrick Stewart with that hair. It would have been perfect.
