The 2010 found footage film that inevitably transformed in to a documentary of a sorts was one of the biggest and most desired cinematic mysteries of the year. Fans all over the web clamored to discover what "Catfish" was about, and whether or not we were in store for another "Paranormal Activity." With a cryptic trailer, and even more cryptic reviews from critics online, "Catfish" was the puzzle of the year for 2010. "Catfish" is very much a film that has potential to be a horror film, even though technically it isn't. A documentary filmmaker named Yaniv is sent a painting from a fan of his photography. Learning the gorgeous painting was completed by a gifted young child, he forms a correspondence with her, and bonds with her online. From there he meets her gorgeous older sister who also forms an online romance with Yaniv. As he and his friends dig deep in to the young painter and her sister, they learn that with the advent of the internet, anything is possible. And sometimes you can indeed walk in to a web of deceit. Unnerving and tense, "Catfish" was such a well received found footage film, the directors were recruited to direct "Paranormal Activity 3," and the upcoming "Paranormal Activity 4."
