Before Paranormal Activity 4: 10 Movies That Paved the Way

6. Paranormal Activity

Director Oren Peli's low budget horror found footage film was initially just a no budget film seeking distribution where ever it could. Originally looking to be portrayed as a mysterious film that chronicled the actual final days of couple Katie and Micah, the final scene of the original film feature a last still of Katie and Micah paying tribute to their family for cooperating with the film. Soon as word spread and rave reviews hit the internet, "Paranormal Activity" exploded in to a bonafide horror classic. Dreamworks first planned to remake "Paranormal Activity" in to a big budget film and then re-release the original film on DVD, but the film gained such positive word, it was released with minor alterations (including a new ending for the sake of sequels), and the little indie that could became a juggernaut.
