2. WallE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szZKsYZzw0M As with Finding Nemo, the score WallE is a similar departure for Thomas Newman. It is epic, fun and adventurous, and in many ways could be considered Newman's most accomplished score, despite being possibly his most classical composition. It fits the scope and dimensionality of the film flawlessly and has the emotional merit to help breathe even more life into Pixars already lifelike robots. Though you can still hear Newmans signature staccato instrumentation, the score utilizes a more prominent brass section with the strings carrying more of the melodic lines than other Newman works generally do. WallE is an ambitious film with an equally ambitious score and it was Newmans first endeavor into the science fiction genre. The score is energetic and inspiring, propelling the listeners and viewers through both the film and the album with ease. This is easily Thomas Newmans most widely accessible composition and a work of spectacle that even people less familiar with his work can enjoy effortlessly.
