Ben Affleck: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
5 Awesome Performances:
5. Batman - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
The whole "actor is cast in a Batman film to massive fan backlash, only to turn out quite good" thing is becoming a cliche right of passage, and while Affleck is no Michael Keaton (or Christian Bale), there's no denying his Batman is great. From the Arkham school of action, this is a violent, no-holds-barred take on the Caped Crusader with incomparable strength and an agility despite "getting slow" in old age. Like Bale's take there's a strong understanding of Batman as a symbol, but he brings the other comic aspects with him too (he even does a bit of detecting at one point). You buy this man would be bale to go up against a god and not have his neck snapped after to minutes. Of course, like everyone in the film Affleck suffers from Zack Snyder's direction, especially when it comes to the "no kill" rule - put bluntly, this Bats doesn't care - but Affleck has enough grounding and understanding to make the superhero work regardless. The greater detectives of you may have noticed that this was all about the superhero side of the performance. And that's for a reason that will become apparent later on.
