20 Greatest Horror Movie Deaths Of The 2020s (So Far)

12. Trish - Kids vs. Aliens

Kids vs Aliens
Shudder

2022's sci-fi horror film Kids vs. Aliens isn't nearly as family-friendly as its title might reasonably suggest, and because being packed with gonzo gore isn't enough, it also features one of the most genuinely disturbing deaths of any recent horror flick.

Onboard the invading aliens' spaceship, one of the kidnapped teenagers, Trish (Emma Vickers), is taken to a slime pit where, while begging for her life, she's doused with slime, causing her flesh to quickly melt off her bones.

Above all else, the practical effects here are horrifyingly brilliant.

Seeing the various stages of Trish's skin melt away, eventually leaving only her gooey skeleton behind, is enough to make this unforgettable, but Emma Vickers' blood-curdling screams throughout push it way over the top.

Despite the film's distinctly low-budget, B-movie vibe, Trish's agonising death actually had some serious staying power - a deeply disturbing fusion of outstanding effects work and killer performance.
