20 Greatest Horror Movie Deaths Of The 2020s (So Far)
13. Uncle Chip - The Monkey
Oz Perkins' The Monkey is all about its utterly ludicrous death scenes, each of them caused by a cursed toy monkey, but Perkins decided to save the most insane and memorable death scene for himself.
Perkins appears in the film as twin brothers Bill and Hal's (Christian Convery) Uncle Chip, who dies an incredibly horrific - yet hilariously timed - death after Bill turns the monkey's key to see what happens.
Once Bill turns the key, Perkins abruptly jump-cuts to a funeral service for Chip, who has been killed in a "hunting accident," before it's revealed that he was actually trampled to death by a stampede of 67 wild horses while in his sleeping bag.
Perkins then shows us footage of Chip's pureed remains in the bag, while adult Hal (Theo James) recalls the undertaker referring to it as if "someone dropkicked a cherry pie."
If the Oscar for Best Film Editing could be given for a single perfectly-timed moment, then The Monkey should've been an absolute shoo-in this past year.
