20 Best Horror Movie Final Girls of the 2020s (So Far)

Lily Sullivan certainly had her work cut out for her when she took the role of protagonist Beth in Evil Dead Rise, considering the series' two brilliant prior heroes - Bruce Campbell's Ash and Jane Levy's Mia from the 2013 Evil Dead remake.

But Sullivan did a fantastic job of crafting a heroine that lived up to them while grappling with an entirely new theme for the series - motherhood.

When we first meet Beth, she learns that she is pregnant with a sure ambivalence, shortly before spending the rest of the movie protecting her nieces and nephews from their own possessed mother, Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland).

Though only one of Beth's relatives makes it to the end of the movie in one piece, her dogged scrappiness and burgeoning Mama Bear energy make her a supremely kick-ass Final Girl on the level of Ash and Mia. 

Few people have ever looked so cool holding a chainsaw while soaked in blood.
