Beyonce Knowles wants to play WONDER WOMEN

Thanks to OWF reader MadWelshBoy who sent us this link over the weekend to Beyonce Knowles'"cast me, cast me" plea to Warner Bros. for their WONDER WOMAN movie which is a story that has now hit the rest of the web with several dozen outlets adding their two cents to the mix. She told the L.A. Times that she isn't just putting her name out for the role on the web, she has actively sought out the part and even met with Warner Bros. executives telling them she is the perfect choice.

€œI want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It€™s time for that, right?€ said Beyonce. €œAfter doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself, €˜OK, I need to be a superhero€™. Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there€™s also an action element that I would enjoy.€
Problem with Beyonce is not the colour of her skin (although I would prefer to have a dark haired, white Wonder Woman as that is the character in the comics and her imagery is a firm part of popular culture) but the fact that there is nothing about her CV or acting style that screams WONDER WOMAN. Some further WONDER WOMAN news hit the web over the weekend when IESB heard the rumor that McG, who after landing the new TERMINATOR movie at WB and impressing them with his early dailies is becoming very powerful at the studio and is seriously being considered for this project. McG previously helmed the feminine action franchise CHARLIE'S ANGELS and at one time became very close to directing a Superman movie at the same studio. He is firmly not my first choice and I have to say, a McG directed WONDER WOMAN starring Beyonce sounds like a disaster waiting to happen but WB seem confident about TERMINATOR SALVATION. Maybe he is starting to show promise?
