Billy Bob Thornton: 5 Awesome Performances & 5 That Sucked

3. Douglas - Into The Grizzly Maze

Into The Grizzly Maze went through many names (Red Machine, Grizzly, Endangered) before finally being dumped to DVD, where it went unseen by the masses. The plot follows a group of people being hunted by a vicious grizzly bear, and despite the title hinting the grizzly itself has built a maze to trap them in, they€™ve just stranded in some dreary woods instead. The film liberally borrows from Jaws so Billy Bob is assigned the role of the crazy hunter, who arrives from time to time on a white horse to deliver clunky exposition. Thornton looks like he€™s having fun, which probably has more to do with getting paid well for a few days work than enjoying the material. The trouble is he€™s not in the least convincing in the part of an experienced hunter, and when he appears it feels like he€™s arrived from another film completely. Although Thornton isn€™t the biggest problem with Into The Grizzly Maze, he€™s capable of much better work than this.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
