The final trailer for Birds of Prey showed Harley Quinn destroying Ace Chemicals, the iconic Gotham City location where both she and her Puddin' were transformed into their villainous alter-egos. However, what you may not realise is that this movie created that scene with footage from David Ayer's Suicide Squad.

"I think we tweaked it a little bit to fit into our world," director Cathy Yan said after being asked by Cinema Blend about whether she used any footage from the divisive 2016 release.

"But I think that the whole point was that it should feel like a memory," the filmmaker continued. "That was everything that she was thinking through the flashes of that. That was what was impacting her as she was driving too her thing. I really liked that. I liked that little flourish. And I think it helped remind people what the significance of ACE chemicals is."

It's certainly not unheard of for a movie like this to reuse footage from a previous release but based on how hard Birds of Prey is clearly trying to move away from Suicide Squad, it is surprising that anything at all was lifted from that. After all, this could have been Warner Bros.' chance to make some changes to Harley's origin story now the DCEU is moving on from its initial dark tone.
