Birds Of Prey - Every Character Explained
8. Huntress
Huntress will be played in Birds Of Prey by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who brings with her a bit of comic book experience from Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. Despite having a lower comic book profile than a lot of the characters involved, Huntress has one of the most compelling origin stories in the film. Though not as outwardly wacky or 'comic booky' as some others, it does feel tailor made for a movie like Birds Of Prey.
Based on what we've seen so far, Birds Of Prey seems to be the perfect blend of cartoonish kookiness and gritty violence, without the try hard nature of Suicide Squad. Huntress is perfect for that angle.
She’s born Helena Bertinelli into a mafia family, but her father is actually a rival don, meaning her very existence causes tension within Gotham’s crime families. At a young age, she witnessed the murder of her parents, though various backstories change her age and the circumstances.
In some she’s under ten, in others she’s a young adult framed for the murder.
What is consistent is that Huntress struggles to maintain her pursuit of ethics and fairness when faced with the potential for vengeance. She’ll be a fascinating part of the movie.
