Birds Of Prey Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

1. Not Enough Black Mask

Though Ewan McGregor does a remarkable job playing the movie's villain, many comic book fans are sure to be disappointed at just how little Roman Sionis actually appears in his classic Black Mask attire.

Pre-release rumours indicated that we'd only see McGregor in the mask for the third act of the movie, and that's basically correct. Though even then, he spends no more than a total of five minutes on-screen actually wearing the mask.

Obviously no studio on the planet would want to cast McGregor in a movie and then keep his face concealed the entire time, but it sure would've been nice to see a few more appearances from the mask throughout the film.

Instead, it feels like a bit of a fan service afterthought that's unlikely to fully satisfy many Black Mask fans.

These gripes aside, Birds of Prey really works for the most part. Here's everything it gets right...
