Black Panther Review: 10 Best Moments

9. T'Challa Visits The Ancestral Plane

After defeating M'Baku (Winston Duke) in combat and taking his rightful place as King, a wounded T'Challa is cared for by his subjects, who feed him Wakanda's curative herb and immerse him in magical sands which allow him to visit the ancestral plane.

T'Challa wakes up on the plane, a beautiful purple savanna, where he's met by a number of panthers, one of which transforms into a celestial vision of his dead father, T'Chaka (John Kani).

The two talk about the challenges facing the new King, and refreshingly, T'Challa says he isn't unsure about being King, but just misses his father. T'Chaka ends the chat with the memorable words, "It's hard for a good man to be King."

It's a gorgeous scene that also does a fantastic job fleshing out T'Challa's character, and despite effectively having him speak to a spirit, somehow avoids feeling cheesy.
