7. The Delightfully Weird Effects

Considering how easy it would have been for Marvel to make a grounded Black Panther movie, it's great to see that they appear to have channeled some of what made Doctor Strange's visual effects so stunning into it instead.

And it makes a lot of sense that Wakanda would be the key to some visual weirdness because it's always been billed as entirely different to what we've seen before. So we get heavy-duty technology that manifests in a way we've barely seen before (though which references the Vision's powers cleverly), flying machines with strange powers and superheroes with physical abilities that are incomparable to anyone else.

Underpinning all of that are the visual effects at Coogler's command. There are no rag-doll physics even when T'Challa leaps around unnaturally, and everything feels as utterly cutting edge as the technology of this world deserves. And where else would you get to see a human hand peel away to reveal a devastating sonic blaster?
