Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
4. Angela Bassett's Terrific Supporting Performance
As won't surprise anyone who's seen the trailer - or anyone who's seen her act before - Angela Bassett gives an amazing supporting performance as Ramonda.
Bassett carries herself with such ferocious power in every single scene, proving immediately captivating whether she's quietly ruminating on her son's loss or, in her finest scene, loudly espousing her grief.
Bassett's so fantastic in the film that it wouldn't be remotely surprising if she received a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for her work here.
She does exactly what great supporting players usually do: enhance the lead character's arc in a truly meaningful way.
Bassett makes us feel Ramonda's devastation basically every time she's on screen, but in all of her power and forthrightness she's certainly far from a pitiable figure.
