Black Widow: 10 Huge Questions We Still Have
4. Why Has Mason Appeared In None Of The Trailers?
Joining Scarlett Johansson on stage during the film's spot at Comic Con last year were David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz, set to make up Natasha's first family as Alexei, Yelena, and Melina, respectively. We have seen plenty of these characters in the promotional material, but there was one more person on stage with them.
Star of A Handmaid's Tale, O-T Fagbenle, was also announced to be portraying Mason. The character is described as a former ally of Natasha, but through months of marketing campaigns and trailers, we have seen Mason just once, as a very small addition to one of the movie's promotional posters.
Why are Marvel seemingly hiding him away with Ray Winstone's unnamed character? There are many rumours and theories that Mason will actually be Taskmaster, but holding him out of the trailers altogether seems too obvious. Marvel rarely give big clues away to these kinds of twists.
Besides, he has appeared in the most recently released poster for the movie in seemingly civilian clothing, so why not the trailers? If Mason is set to be revealed as Taskmaster, Marvel Studios would do better to throw people off the scent by treating him as a normal character in the build up, instead of omitting him completely, giving fans every reason to suspect him.
