1. Rick Mason
Known mostly for his role in The Handmaid's Tale, O.T. Fagbenle's casting didn't make the same online splash as that of Rachel Weisz or David Harbour. That said, you'd be wise to keep an eye on his character, Rick Mason.
In March 2019, That Hashtag Show reported that Andre Holland auditioned for the role of the film's main villain. Obviously it didn't go through, but who was the character?
What are notable male roles in this film? Alexei/Red Guardian; Taskmaster (presumably); Thaddeus Ross, who has been cast since The Incredible Hulk; and whoever the hell Ray Winstone is playing. But there's one more: the mysterious Rick Mason.
What do we know about Mason? Not much, as it turns out. He's one of Nat's allies from S.H.I.E.L.D., and he's romantically interested in her. That's it.
Now, as you may know, Taskmaster has been portrayed as a black man in the comics. As such, it makes sense that Marvel would be looking to cast a black man. Andre Holland auditioned, but didn't make the cut. Fagbenle was cast as SOMEONE, and he was cast pretty early on, hinting at an important role. Is he the one hiding behind that mask? Is Rick Mason the Taskmaster?
