Black Widow: 8 Characters That Should Appear
Which familiar faces from the MCU's history to date would fit right in in Black Widow's big outing?
For fans of Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff, a solo film for the character has been a long time coming. Introduced back in 2010's Iron Man 2, Black Widow has been one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's oldest staples, one of the original six members of the Avengers lineup, and she ended the decade by making the ultimate sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame in the summer of 2019.
In May, however, the franchise will be turning the clock back to turn the spotlight on Nat with a film that will explore what she was up to during the time between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. New characters like David Harbour's Red Guardian, Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, and the mysterious Taskmaster are all set to join the MCU along the way, while a few familiar faces, such as Thaddeus Ross and Tony Stark, will be popping up as well.
After all this time, it feels like a certainty that the film will dive further back into Nat's past than just the Civil War/Infinity War period, opening the door for a number of other MCU stalwarts to turn up as well. Now, with the film mere months away, ready to kick off Phase 4 of the juggernaut franchise, let's look back over the MCU's run to date to sort out eight characters who'd fit right in in Nat's film...
8. Madame B.
You'd be forgiven if you don't remember who Madame B. is. Aside from a brief appearance as part of Natasha's Wanda-induced illusions during Avengers: Age of Ultron, she hasn't been seen anywhere else in the MCU.
That said, we learned that she was a Red Room leader, one of the trainers responsible for turning Natasha - and all the other girls - into lethal assassins. If the new film is going to explore more of Nat's past and the machinations of the Red Room, it feels thoroughly logical that Madame B. would have to turn up, at least in flashbacks, considering the role she played in Nat's origins.
Even better, it would give actress Julie Delpy - certainly best known to many for her work in Richard Linklater's Before trilogy - the chance to do more in the franchise than just be restricted to a cameo.
