Black Widow: Every Main Character Ranked From Worst To Best
5. Rick Mason
When O-T Fagbenle's character was suspiciously absent from all of the Black Widow promotional materials, with the exception of one poster, there was an air of mystery about him. Surely there was a reason Marvel weren't showing him, so could he be the man behind the Taskmaster mask?
In reality, there was nothing worth hiding for the character, he was simply an old friend of Natasha's that helped her stay hidden from the US government. He procured her a trailer to live in off the grid, he got her the plane used to break Alexei out of prison, and finally a Quinjet at the end of the movie.
There was a certain level of comedy value to him and his dynamic, first with Natasha, and then with Yelena, but over the course of the movie, he added very little. He didn't really have enough screen time to impact the movie in any meaningful way.
In the comics, Rick was known as The Agent, and had a richer history with SHIELD, however none of his backstory could be shown in his MCU debut. Should the franchise continue however, Rick has the potential to be an asset moving forward with a little more development.
