While it was already pretty obvious from previous trailers that Black Widow was going to center on Natasha Romanoff's past, this outlined just how deep her character arc will run throughout the film.

The focus on her realisation of what it means to have a family is the ultimate nod to her time with the Avengers and how they turned an isolated, trained and programmed assassin into one of the greatest heroes cinema has ever known. It was her ties to her fellow heroes - her family - that changed her, setting her on a brighter path that ultimately saved her life, and now she gets to use what she has learned in the present in order to literally confront her past. And, if the trailer is anything to go by, that character journey might just be the key to overcoming the conflict - both external and internal.

Given everything that happened in Avengers: Endgame, fans were heartbroken to discover that Black Widow was actually a prequel instead of a sequel - but watching this, it's clear that this is the MCU's way of bidding farewell to one of its greatest heroes. A love letter to Natasha's decade-long journey, it will delve into her past to highlight how far she's come - a fitting tribute to Marvel's most compelling character.

Now, let's take a look at the negative...
