Black Widow Movie: 10 Comic Book Storylines Marvel Must Adapt

6. Widowmaker

It comes as little surprise that many of the best Black Widow comics appeared around 2010, the same year as her show-stealing role in Iron Man 2.

Jim McCann and David Lopez’s Widowmaker is a good example of this trend, although it’s as much Hawkeye and Mockingbird’s story as it is Romanov’s.

The four-issue mini-series finds Hawkeye and Mockingbird investing the assassination of a SHIELD agent in Japan, where they cross paths with Agent Romanov.

The trio soon realise that somebody is bumping off the Marvel Universe’s super spies and two of them are on the hit-list.

Bringing Widowmaker to the big screen would give Marvel the opportunity to introduce a cinematic version of Mockingbird and further diversify the SHIELD workforce.

Alternatively, they could take an unprecedented step and import Adrianne Palicki’s take on the character from the Agents of Shield TV show, a move that could clear the way for more TV-movie crossovers.
