Black Widow Movie 2020: Everything We Know
6. A 2020 Release
Black Widow’s starting production early in 2019 bodes well for a 2020 theatrical release. Most films in this shared universe release a year after they start to shoot with a few exceptions, so this makes the most sense. But common sense isn't the only evidence supporting this theory.
Deadline reports that the film is aiming for a release date next year. And this is supported by the questionable future of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. After James Gunns firing the film was put on hold, it left a blank slate in Marvel’s lineup.
All signs pointed to the third installment in the GOTG saga releasing in May of 2020 before the controversial dismissal of its director. So now that the MCU needs to fill that gap, chances are they're willing to bet on a surefire win to save the day.
All of this points to fans being able to confidently mark their calendars for Black Widow to make her cinematic solo debut sometime in 2020.
