7. It's Extremely Timely In The Age Of Trump

It goes without saying that the movie's themes remain enormously relevant in 2018, especially in the age of Trump.

While Lee draws some clear parallels between the KKK and the alt-right movement that thrives today, he also takes a few direct pot-shots at Trump that just barely stop short of winking at the audience.

It's easy to look at the KKK's activities and think, "We've come a long way", but Lee's message here seems to be a warning: don't get complacent, and as much as things change, they also stay the same.

In an age where racists feel more emboldened than ever with one of their own in the White House, BlackKkKlansman is a reminder to stay vigilant, and just because they may not wear white hoods anymore, that doesn't mean they don't have hate in their hearts.
