Blade: 5 Reasons We're All Done With Vampire Films

2. All The Vampires Books Out There Have Been Turned Into Movies

Bram Stoker published his ground-breaking novel Dracula in 1897. Since then, his work has been fitted for the silver screen by the likes of Francis Ford Coppola and F. W. Murnau. The short stories comprising In A Glass Darkly inspired the Dreyer picture Vampyr. Anne Rice even wrote some drivel that got made into a movie last year with some weird little blonde girl named Kirsten Dunst. But that's pretty much it. No more books are out there to be made. Sure, there were comic books, but Blade is finishing that one out. No, there's nothing else left in the printed word available to adapt into a vampire movie. Maybe we'll get lucky and there'll be a book series about a young vampire on the prowl, battling with other mythical beasts in tests of might, power, and sexuality. That would be awesome. There's no way that could turn out horrible.
