So far, it's been confirmed the Blade Runner sequel will feature Harrison Ford, that it will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, that it will have original director Ridley Scott on board as producer and that Hampton Fancher has returned with a new screenplay. Beyond that, it's mostly speculation - as yet, no one knows who will be making up the rest of the cast and crew, or indeed if anybody from the old team will be making a return. Logic should dictate that there won't be a great deal of original cast members who could be making a second appearance in the new Blade Runner: aside from M. Emmet Walsh's Bryant, every major character either died in the first film or was scheduled to 'expire' in the time that has passed in the Blade Runner universe since then. (Sequels, though, and especially the ones that try to bait fans of the original, are notorious for making logical leaps to bring back old favourites, so don't rule anyone out at this point.) With the crew, however, it's a different case - could co-screenwriter David Webb Peoples lend a hand on the new screenplay before it goes before cameras in 2016? Will members of the old design team come back to lend their inimitable touch to the film's environment? Could Vangelis make a go of another distinctive score?
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
