Even if Rachael wasn't due to expire shortly after Blade Runner ended, thus making Sean Young's return as the character doubtful, no one should be holding their breath that Young will make any kind of cameo. The actress is notoriously difficult to work with, and it was reported early in the development of the Blade Runner sequel that Young wouldn't be coming back, much to her chagrin ("my official opinion is that, if they dont include me in it, everybody should boycott it", Young told Entertainment Weekly in 2013). Still, it would be odd if the team behind the Blade Runner sequel chose not to elaborate upon what exactly became of Rachael after she and Deckard ran away. Did Rachael and Deckard spend their days together until she expired, or did she make her own way in the world, fully aware of her impending doom?
