4. The Engineer Lookalike
The connections between the Alien and Blade Runner universes are well documented, but fans of both franchises lost their collective mind when what looks like one of Prometheus' Engineers showed up in 2049's trailer.
The scene in question takes place at Niander Wallace’s headquarters in a hall displaying the base models for the villain's Android creations.
One of them resembles an Engineer from a certain angle (the one shown in the trailer) but under scrutiny, the likeness is vague, ending at baldness and a powerful physique.
Still, there's a good chance a director as obviously meticulous as Denis Villeneuve was aware of the resemblance and left it in as a sneaky nod to the theory about Alien and Blade Runner taking place in the same world.
