And finally, we come to the scores at the doors. After looking at the eleven most prominent aspects of both movies, Ridley Scott's original Blade Runner comes out on top with six wins, while Denis Villeneuve's sequel nabs a close five victories.

Though the original wins out, it's clear that Blade Runner 2049 is one of the most staggeringly impressive sequels ever made, damn-near matching the original pound-for-pound where it counts the most.

It won't end up as relentlessly quoted and parodied as the original, but it's a fascinating post-script to the 1982 film that defied just about all expectations.
