Blockers Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs

3. It's Superbly Paced

Blockers clocks in at just 102 minutes in length, and is a thoroughly fast-paced sprint from start to finish. That it manages to not feel overly breathless or rushed is a testament to the efficient screenplay, quickly establishing its premise and just running with the ball.

There's barely a moment where the plot lulls or lingers too long on any one sequence, and any time a joke doesn't totally land, there's another one ready to go.

Even with the film frequently cross-cutting between the parents and their kids, it never feels like we're separated from one side for too long, with judicious editing giving the film constant forward-momentum.

By the time it's over, it sure doesn't feel like all that time has passed.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
