Bloodshot Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

Ups...

3. Guy Pearce & Eiza González's Solid Performances

Bloodshot Eiza Gonzalez
Columbia Pictures

The easy saving grace of this movie is the genuinely solid performances from Guy Pearce and Eiza González.

The former, as the scientist responsible for Ray's resurrection who inevitably has ulterior motives at play, is a lot of fun, clearly being fully aware of what he signed up for and just having some hammy fun with it.

Conversely, González actually plays her part relatively straight and impressively gets away with it, trying her damnedest to imbue the silly script with something close to pathos, and damn-near succeeding.

Though neither has the most spirited screen partner in Diesel, they at least both help elevate his presence with their own, and ensure the film isn't quite as bland as it otherwise might've been.
