7. For Special Services (John Gardner)

For Special Services HB In his second novel John Gardner deals with the return of the infamous SPECTRE. This time around Bond meets a one Ceder Leiter, who is none other than the daughter of Felix. Together they travel to Texas to investigate a certain art collecter named Bismaquer, who Bond believes is the new Blofeld. Their identities are found out within a matter of hours, but Bond holds his own. Later on in the story, however, Bond is brainwashed into believing he is an American General and courted by the bisexual Bismaquer. Of course that doesn't fly too long with The James Bond who comes to his senses and then proceeds to blow up the SPECTRE base. In the end Bismaquer is killed by his alienated wife, Nena, who reveals a big secret about Blofeld before she becomes the next hot meal of some huge snakes just as Felix Leiter shows up to finish the job.
