6. Icebreaker (John Gardner)
In Gardner's next novel he pits Bond against a whole lot of double crossing secret agents and some evil old fashioned Nazi scum. Like Benson's novel mentioned before, Icebreaker also takes place in the mountains. The mission is dangerous. Neo Nazi forces have formed a group of assassins bent on murdering all the communist leaders in the world and are led by a Arne Tudeer who envisions himself as the new Hitler. The problem is because its a global problem Bond has to play second fiddle to an alliance of other agents from all over the globe including guys from Russia's KGB. It doesn't work out well. There is immediate betrayals and some crazy reveals in the story to almost an excessive point where the reader becomes boggled. However, James Bond versus Hitler sounds pretty awesome.
