Bond 24: 15 Locations That 007 Should Visit Next

3. Nuuk, Greenland

Last Visited: Never Other films shot there: A handful of foreign films and some TV series Highlight: The striking National Gallery, about to go into construction. Perhaps that particular landmark would be best left for Bond 25... Why? Greenland? Of all the places! Cold, boring... a place that doesn't jump to mind when one thinks of rich culture and unique architecture. Why on earth would Bond visit Greenland, specifically its capital city Nuuk? Well, for the same sort of reason as Krasnoyarsk. Bond could easily go to Iceland- as he did in the poor second half of Die Another Day- but where would the fun be in that? Nuuk, and Greenland represent a place both of isolation and beauty. If Bond is hiding out or tracking a villain who wants to stay a recluse, where better than this striking place that's hardly mentioned in travel guides? Greenland has been host to all kinds of movies, such as The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Last Airbender, Dr. Strangelove and Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer, but Nuuk itself has had little attention. Bond 24 could be the production to change all that. Nobody else has made use of the country's capital city, and Bond is meant to be someone who travels to places the audience wouldn't ever get the chance to- Greenland is somewhere that's rarely on people's minds when they think of places to travel or far-off lands. 2. Kisangani, Democratic Republic of The Congo

Last Visited: Never Other films shot there: The Nun's Story with Audrey Hepburn (1959), and two documentaries Highlight: The city is near to the Congolian rainforest- that would certainly be the highlight. Why? Another African location here, though not as infamous or notorious as Mogadishu. Not that the capital of Democratic Republic of Congo is a safe haven, but this location has been chosen for its geographical location. Bond has visited the Amazon, but we've never seen him deep within a rainforest or a jungle. Like Mogadishu, few people have visited the Congolian Rainforests, let alone those in the multiplezes. What could be hiding there for Bond? Kisangani is a typical African city, and not one of the most notable locations that could have been selected within Africa, so it would be interesting to see Bond placed here. A far more interesting location than, say, Johannesburg- a location that Skyfall was rumoured to have been considering early on in production. Bond has never visited the Congo before, so cinematically it would be a fascinating place for Mendes and Roger Deakins to shoot in. If Bond is going to visit Africa more frequently, then South Africa is the obvious first choice and should be avoided for that reason. At least initially... Likelihood (out of 5): 3
