2. Danny Boyle
When it comes to making great, assured, technically brilliant, and wholly likeable movies, there's arguably no better director out there than Danny Boyle. And given that he helped to rally the UK together in its entirety for what was one of their best Olympic performances ever (he directed the unique, visually stunning opening ceremony), who else but Boyle is in a better position to grab ahold of a British institution? Boyle has made some truly sensational pictures across the course of his career (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire and 1
27 Hours spring to mind), and given that he's just finished working on
Trance, a thriller with James McAvoy, his schedule is likely open. Bond producers would be wise to at least consider Boyle as an option, then, given that his track record is pretty much flawless, and that he'd be right at home with the kind of
Bond 24 they're planning on making. He's also not afraid to take risks, and has proven time and time again that he can work in pretty much any genre. It doesn't hurt either that Boyle himself, like Bond, is considered to be somewhat of a legend in the UK. The results, I feel, would likely be marvellous.
