Bond 25: 5 Things From Previous Daniel Craig Films It Must Continue (And 4 It Must Avoid)

2. AVOID: Bond As A 2D Ladies' Man

Daniel Craig-James Bond
Sony Pictures

The female characters of Daniel Craig's Bond tenure are turbulent warriors in their own right and Bond's relationship with them never quite worked out to be plain sailing. This worked on two fronts: firstly, it made for some more interesting and three-dimensional female characters in the Bond canon.

And secondly, it added some welcomed depth to 007's own personality. Even more important than both of those, it also proved that James Bond movies didn't need the pithy innuendos and disposable romances to make them good Bond films.

This principle kind of went out of the window in Spectre, admittedly. Bond's fling with Monica Bellucci's character near the beginning was a silly plot point, which more-or-less unraveled many of the things fans grew to love about Craig's Bond.

On assertively initiating fun-loving with the widow of a former target, Bond shifted from the chiseled outsider, to an awkward Sean Connery copy, which really did not suit the tone of well, anything. Let's hope Bond 25 makes a swift recovery from this and shifts back into the former. Whether his love life works out fine or not, let's see some integrity rather than outdated cliches.
