Brad Pitt: 5 More Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

5 More Awesome Performances...

5. Lt. Aldo Raine - Inglourious Basterds

Shia LaBeouf might be getting a lot of media attention for his role in Fury, having gone to the extreme lengths of pulling out a tooth and slicing his face with a knife to achieve a truly authentic look, but Brad Pitt's performance has also been hailed as a compelling one. More than a few reviews for Fury have noted a similarity between his role as sergeant Don "Wardaddy" Collier and his earlier role in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. Coullier has been described as a more toned down variation of his character Lieutenant Aldo "The Apache" Raine, a performance which it would have been very hard to tone up. Raine is a cartoonish character in which the ticks and inflections lend it a zany, unrestrained edge. Christoph Waltz's performance as Hans "The Jew Hunter" Landa - the SS officer who takes his line of work very, very seriously - might have overshadowed Brad Pitt's great work, but nevertheless it stands as one of his more memorable roles in recent years. He described the task of inhabiting a Tarantino character himself as "outrageous and irreverent", words which sum up neatly his performance as Raine.
