After having won his first acting Oscar for playing the loyal Clive Booth in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Brad Pitt is repaying his sense of gratitude to his own former stuntman!

Variety reports that Brad Pitt will star in Sony Pictures' upcoming action thriller Bullet Train, directed by his former long-time stunt double and coordinator David Leitch.

Now a seasoned filmmaker of three big Hollywood action movies (Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Hobbs & Shaw), Leitch previously worked as Pitt's stunt double and fight choreographer on Fight Club, The Mexican, Ocean’s 11, Spy Game, Troy, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Bullet Train is based on a Japanese novel, Maria Beetle, by mystery author Kōtarō Isaka; about a group of various eccentric underworld figures who find themselves on the same shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo to Morioka. It's never been localized into English.

The screenplay is written by Zak Olkewicz, who's only previous produced credit is as a co-producer on David F. Sandberg's Lights Out. Leitch is producing with Kelly McCormick, Kat Samick, and Antoine Fuqua (of Training Day, Olympus Has Fallen, and The Equalizer fame) for 87North.

Pitt already repaid a bit of a favour to his former stuntman having appeared in Deadpool 2, where the actor memorably had a cameo appearance as the invisible mutant Vanisher but now here he will have a starring role in a Leitch film for the very first time.
