Brotherhood Review: 6 Ups & 5 Downs

4. The Outrageously Gratuitous Nudity

Brotherhood Nudity
Lionsgate

This shouldn't be much of a surprise given the not-so-strong showing that women have had in Clarke's previous films, but the excessive nudity throughout his latest effort is gratuitous to the point of absolute absurdity.

Sure, there's bound to be some nudity in a movie that features sex as a prominent plot point and has evil gangsters gallivanting around with a horde of prostitutes, but even so, it's pretty much laughable here and invites plenty of eye-rolling after the fifth or sixth time it happens.

Clarke might say it's in the effort of creating a more "authentic" environment, but it's much easier to believe he just wanted to hang around with a party of beautiful, naked women, because what straight man wouldn't?
