CALLING ALL ROBOTS is a CGI motion-captured GODZILLA-like movie?
In the style of BEOWULF, Michael Dougherty will write/direct an epic Robot movie described as a "throwback to the old GODZILLA movies".
Walt Disney Pictures and Robert Zemeckis' Image Movers company are producing a CGI motion-captured Beowulf style epic movie titled Calling All Robots, a sci-fi adventure that will be made as "a throwback to the old Godzilla movies".
The project has come from the mind of two visual artists and also Superman Returns scribe Michael Dougherty who will write and direct the movie, just like he did with the upcoming horror Trick r' Treat which I'm hearing has been pushed back to Halloween time again! That movie was originally set to open Halloween 07 but was moved because of the amount of horror movies (specifically Saw IV) that it would have to compete with so it changed to a Spring opening but it's once again moved to Halloween, which makes no sense because it will have to face Saw once again. No word on the plot of Calling All Robots as yet, all we have is the Godzilla reference. Presumably, it's going to be some kind of Robot attacking the world disaster movie."It's a film we just could not make in live action or traditional animation," said Dougherty, who began his career as an animator.Sure, why not? I'm actually starting to like this motion capture technology, it was used SOOOO much better in Beowulf than it was in The Polar Express. I'm excited for A Christmas Carol and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland... I think this technology has some future. And a massive robot Godzilla movie, kinda sounds cool. source - variety
