20 INSANE Horror Sequels We Almost Got
19. Halloween 3D
Even though Rob Zombie's Halloween II wasn't nearly as commercially successful as its remake predecessor, it still made enough bank that a third film began development.
However, due to Zombie feeling burned out by the challenging production of Halloween II, he opted not to return.
Regardless, the threequel was swiftly announced for a 2010 release and confirmed to be titled Halloween 3D, with a story set to retcon the end of Halloween II where Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) appeared to be killed by Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton).
But to reiterate, the big wrinkle here is that we would've gotten a 3D Halloween movie, because of course the technology was all the rage in the early 2010s following the success of Avatar.
Is there a good chance Halloween 3D would've featured poor post-converted 3D in the pursuit of a quick buck? Absolutely, but it still would've been a trip to see Michael Myers skewering his victims in an added dimension.
But development stalled long enough that Dimension Films lost the rights to Halloween, leaving the series dormant until it was revived with 2018's legacy sequel under David Gordon Green and Blumhouse.
